Arrived on Sunday, June 7th and after checking into the conference hotel, I went for a walk to the Chinese Bier Garden. Turned out to be quite a hike even though the folks at the hotel said it wasn’t that far. Mileage wise it wasn’t but the hills made it a little more challenging. It was a beautiful, warm Sunday afternoon and the Beer Garden was filled with families, kids and dogs soaking up the scenery. Loved the communal feel of being there.
While at the garden I made a rookie mistake. Bought my beer and paid. Then went back for a pretzel. As I came back through the line, the cashier didn’t believe me that I had already paid for the bier even though I had the stein token. A nice German guy behind me in line handled the translation to sort it out. Had the a laugh at myself, but hey, I was a tourist. Pretzel was yummy and huge. Summer bier in a stein was mighty tasty. Loved listening to the live oompa music. Great people watching. Cooling down a little. Felt nice sitting in the shade, but then headed out to walk the gardens and to walk off the bier.
