After wrapping up my work, I headed to the Hotel Blauer Block on the Marienplatz. I didn’t realize until after I’d checked in that a restaurant I’d read about was actually connected with the hotel. My dinner was quiet and very upscale. Arrived at 6:45 pm and finished my foodie experience at 10:45 pm. The Restaurant Blauer Block is rated one of the best restaurants in Munich. This foodies enjoyed every thing about the entire experience.
I started with a wonderful bottle of wine to go with an appetizer plate that Katherine brought me. I opted to enjoy the chef’s 5 course menu. Why not? You only live once. When I travel I certainly don’t worry about what I’m spending. What’s the point of working hard if you don’t enjoy the moment when you have the chance?
My first course began with a stroke of amazing timing. Chanterelle mushrooms had arrived that day and Chef prepared a special appetizer – past with mushrooms. ——->>>
Next tasting was a delicious Red Prawn, Spinach and Lobster Foam. Yes. I can get used to this I was thinking to myself. As I was enjoying my dinner, I was observing the people around me and taking it all in.
There is something so relaxing about doing your own thing and simply savoring the moments. What I learned by Katherine, the lovely woman taking such good care of me was that you only find Red Praws in the Atlanta ocean but not the Pacific.
Bavarian Venison with Red Beetroot and Celery was up next, and the dish absolutely did not disappoint. After enjoying the meal so far, I took my time and savored the wine while relaxing.
Finally, it was time for dessert. Though I’m not much of a dessert person, I couldn’t resist giving it a try. The dessert was a fabulous Raspberry Creme Ice Cream Cook with fresh raspberries and a sauce they called Hot Lava (hot love). Naturally, they paired a wonderful champagne with desert. Both were quite delicious.
The Chef at Restaurant Blauer Block is Hans Jorg Bachmeier who hosts his on cooking show on Sunday’s at 5pm. Once the live program wraps, you can follow along online in case you missed the program. The very next night I had the opportunity to meet Chef. The servers remembered me… I guess not many women come in an dine on their alone, plus I dropped a fair amount of cash on the meal. Worth every euro!
Katherine was a delightful hostess who took really good care of me. If you ever visit the restaurant, you definitely need to ask for her!
