I’m Barb Giamanco, someone who loves travel, especially international, a foodie, wine lover and admitted cooking show junkie. My passion is all things travel, art, music, food, cooking, wine, friends, animals and fun. Along with sharing my own personal food and travel adventures, I’ll be sharing posts from other like-minded travel and food contributors. You’ll also find informative articles jam-packed with travel tips, ideas and “how to” information to make your travel and food adventures more interesting. Since I’m addicted to cooking shows, you’ll find my musings season to season on shows like MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, Hell’s Kitchen, Food Network Star, Top Chef, The Great Food Truck Race, Worst Cooks in America and more.
How my passion for travel and food started.
Way back when I was still in high school, I remember being asked by my grandmother what I was going to do when I grew up. At the time, I was told that I really had three or four options: get married, become a nurse, teacher or a stewardess (yes, that was the job description before flight attendant become politically correct). Frankly, the only option that really appealed to me was the one that would mean travel was part of the job. I was content to be a waitress in the sky, so to speak, as long as I could travel to U.S. and international destinations. I envisioned the things I would see and do, the people I would meet, the great food I would enjoy and much more. I didn’t become a flight attendance but I did land my first sales job at a technology company, which would not only launch my corporate career but give me multiple opportunities to travel!
I cruised the Bahamas and traveled to Mexico and Canada a number of times when I first started out. Soon after, I began stepping up my game and have now traveled to… Italy (twice), France, Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands – specifically Amsterdam on a New Year’s Eve, Hawaii, Spain, Switzerland, Germany (twice), England, and Russia. I’ve continued to travel the U.S. and love places like San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Next up is a jaunt to Warsaw, Poland then off for a few days in Croatia. And, of course, I love my home here in Atlanta, GA where we have some of the best chefs and restaurants in the United States.
